TABC members receive October update from USTR on EU-U.S. TTC progress

On October 5, 2021, the Office of the U.S. Trade Representative (USTR) joined TABC for a virtual, members-only discussion on the progress of the EU-U.S. Trade and Technology Council (TTC). USTR staffers first discussed the outcomes of the September 29th inaugural joint TTC meeting in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. They then detailed the TTC’s still-developing priorities, which currently include: 1) avoiding unnecessary EU-U.S. trade barriers, particularly with regard to emerging technologies; 2) developing worker-friendly trade policies; 3) developing climate- and environmentally-conscious trade policies; and 4) countering trade practices of nonmarket economies. Additionally, staffers discussed the TTC’s progress toward establishing formal processes for stakeholder input, as well as the developing nature of the TTC’s initial deliverables.
