The TransAtlantic Consumer Dialogue (TACD) will hold their Annual Conference entitled “The precautionary principle in TTIP: Trade barrier or essential for consumer protection?” on Tuesday, January 26, 2016 in Brussels.
This year’s TACD Multi-stakeholder Forum will once more bring together participants representing civil society, government, legislators and business on both sides of the Atlantic to discuss issues of importance to consumers related to the Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (TTIP). The event will focus on the precautionary principle, how it is used in the EU and the U.S., and specifically its implications for the TTIP negotiations in all priority areas of TACD’s work. Sessions are being planned on the subject of precaution in the areas of chemicals and pesticides, food, privacy as well as the digital agenda.
Participants will hear from and engage in active debate with a wide range of the most influential voices in the TTIP negotiations, including EU Trade Commissioner Cecilia Malmström and U.S. Federal Trade Commissioner Julie Brill.
