TABC along with AmCham EU held a transatlantic roundtable on the lifting of the Iran nuclear-related sanctions. Given the close cooperation between both sides during the negotiations with Iran, we held a joint discussion with EU and U.S. officials specifically on the EU and U.S. guidelines relating to the details of sanctions or restrictive measures which are to be lifted under the JCPOA. The guidelines were published jointly on Implementation Day, January 16, 2016. This transatlantic discussion was linked through video-conference between Brussels and Washington, D.C.
The speakers were:
- Francesco Fini, Head of Division, Sanctions Policy, European External Action Service (EEAS)
- Christopher Backemeyer, Principal Deputy Coordinator for Sanctions Policy, U.S. Department of State
- Felicia Swindells, Senior Sanctions Policy Advisor, Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC), U.S. Department of the Treasury
