On Monday July 22, 2019, the TABC met with a delegation of four members of the European Economic and Social Committee. The delegation was in Washington D.C. to participate in a number of meetings with various stakeholders.
The EESC delegation included:
• Tanja Buzek – Member of the Workers’ Group, EESC, and President of the EESC Transatlantic Relations Follow-up Committee – Head of EU Liaison Office of the German trade union ver.di (United Services Union) (Germany)
• Jacek Krawczyk – President of the EESC Employers’ Group, Vice-President of the Polish confederation Lewiatan (Poland)
• John Comer – Member of the Diversity Europe Group, President of ICMSA (Irish Creamery Milk Suppliers Association) (Ireland)
• Sara Nanino, Administrator
The members of the EESC noted that the U.S. is an important partner of the EU and highlighted some of the difficulties in recent years, such as tariffs and a lack of predictability in the transatlantic relationship. They are seeking ways to keep up the strong transatlantic business ties and communications as we continue to navigate through the 2020 presidential election.
